A quick grin and a cheerful greeting—these are what you will receive if you stop by René Bardales’ office in the Herald and Banner building. René Bardales and his daughter, Ruth Stephenson, at his 90th birthday party in 2018. Bro. Bardales is now into his ninth decade, and some in his position would have perhaps thought they deserved to retire. But as God has given him strength, Bro. Bardales continues his ministry of Spanish Ministerial Resources. A Bolivian by birth, Bro. Bardales and his wife, Lois, served for 20 years as missionaries in the country of Mexico. Moving to the U.S. in 1987, they continued their involvement in this fruitful ministry from afar for the next 11 years, returning
Summer has been a return to our normal furlough schedule of travelling, visiting churches, and connecting with people. We’re so grateful for the opportunities we’ve had to share about Bible Translation in Papua New Guinea, as well as catching up with friends and acquaintances in various places. If you or your church want to see us in August or on into the Autumn months, get in touch with us or the COGH World Missions office. Please pray for our churches in Bolivia. More than 110 Evangelical pastors across the nation have died as a result of COVID-19, including at least 7 from our churches. Pastor Felix Romero, our National Board Secretary, passed away July 20. A lack of medical resources and care makes Bolivia susceptible to this devastating disease. Thank you for your prayers.
In a normal year, World Missions presents an annual report booklet at General Convention in June. However, as we all know, this year has been far from normal. General Convention was cancelled. In lieu of a booklet overviewing our ministries, this year we have developed a 44-page magazine with articles, pictures, and highlights from our fields. Want to read about one family’s sudden evacuation from their work in Europe? Would you like to learn how Pastor Samson was saved in Haiti? Want to take a brief look at Pastor Stephen Marcel’s childhood? This magazine has all that and more. We plan to mail copies of this extended edition of The Harvest Times to churches next month. If you would like to
Please pray for Jaime Cano. He has served as our national president in Bolivia, on the national board, and as pastor of the Pampahasi church. After bringing assistance to families in need because of the COVID-19 crisis, he has apparently contracted it. At present, he is not responding to treatment. Thank you for your prayers.
