Iguana Hunting

Green iguanas, a non-native species in the Cayman Islands, are cropping up everywhere.

Three years ago, it was estimated that there were 152,000 iguanas on this island only 22 miles long and 8 miles wide.

Currently, a bounty is offered by the government to those who wish to help rid the island of these pests.

David and Zenia Woods’ boys, Joseph and Noah, finally caught one recently.

Zenia wrote, “After many days of running behind, then catching up and being scared, the boys finally caught their iguana. It was a catch and release experience, but they had a blast. Somehow, they thought I was going to pay them the $3 bounty. Lol. They kicked off the sandals so they could run faster.”
