Blessed Ministry in the Cayman Islands
I love seeing how God is working in different places in the world. Last month, Rev. Mark Surbrook and I traveled to the Cayman Islands to spend time with Dr. Gayle and Sister Micki Woods (Cayman Brac) and Pastor Carlson Benjamin (Grand Cayman). Before arriving to the Brac I committed myself to prayer-walking part of it every day that I was there. Little did I realize the blessing I would receive, traversing this beautiful island. God gifted me with seeing His creative handiw

Baptisms in Cayman Brac
Dr. Woods sends out monthly email updates from the churches in Cayman Brac. If you would like to receive these, please send us your request . Below is an excerpt from his October report. In the mid-week service at Watering Place a new lady who just attended for the first time one week prior surprised us by getting up to tell us that God had saved her and she wanted to live for Him. In conversation with her she told me that she was sitting in her living room looking at Tik-Tok

Celebrating Faithful Ministry
In December of 2014, David and Zenia Woods began an adventure when they stepped off a plane on to the island of Cayman Brac with their boys, Joseph and Noah. For the next 3 ½ years, they pastored the two congregations in the Brac and grew to love their new home and the people there. In March of 2018, the Woods packed up again, this time to move to Grand Cayman, where they felt God was leading them to pastor the Red Bay church. This move was bringing Zenia back to the place an

2020 What a Year!
2020 has been a year for the books. In the Cayman Islands, we have experienced earthquakes (nearly unheard of here), an out-of-control fire at the dump, an extreme lockdown period due to COVID-19, the mandate of civil partnerships by the governor, an active hurricane season and more. 2020 has surely been a year of fear, uncertainty and even despair. Yet with the apostle Paul we say, "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; pers

Bringing Good from the Bad
Why does God allow bad things to happen? In December of 1995 I struggled with that question. I cried many nights, waiting on the Lord to give me an answer that would make sense. But I never got one. Eventually, I accepted the circumstances, but it was not without troubling feelings of anger, deception, and betrayal. I felt deserted and abandoned. These feelings were not only triggered by the fact that my parents were separating, but by the fact that God almighty did nothing

Ministry in These Challenging Times
When the year 2020 began, none of us suspected the careening detour it would take. Quarantines, curfews, social distancing. Who would have thought these kinds of words would become part of our everyday language? Yet, even as we find our schedules cleared from many normal activities, our hearts may be flooded with increasingly anxious thoughts. We would do well to remember Jesus’ words: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16

Highlights from 2019
"Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men." Philippians 2:5–7 (ESV) It is Christmas time again, and we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Yet we are also challenged by the apostle's words to adopt the same mindset and behavior of Jesus in giving up Hi

New Believers in Grand Cayman
We were thrilled to hear the news of souls being saved as a result of David and Zenia Woods’ ministry at the Red Bay church in Grand Cayman. Within two weeks in March, five people became followers of Jesus! The last two were a husband and wife who wanted their family to serve the Lord. The next Sunday morning, a special dedication was a part of the service, and it was followed by a baptism service at the sea. When God moves, the enemy fights. Thank you for your continued p

Thanks!
December 1st, 2018, marks four years since our family first stepped foot in the Cayman Islands as missionary pastors! Thank you so much for the incredible support you have given us these past several years! 2018 has been a year of changes for our family. In January we were called by Red Bay Church of God (Holiness), in conjunction with World Missions, to be their new pastor, beginning on April 1st, Easter Sunday. Our hearts were saddened at the prospect of leaving the peop
