Ghana Convention
For the last two years, safety concerns led to canceling the annual convention in Ghana. This is a time meant to encourage and strengthen the 7 village churches. But, at the end of last year they were able to hold their convention at the Ducie church, Dec. 30, 2025—Jan 1, 2026. The theme for the event was Building a Spiritually Strong and Self-Sustaining Ministry. Activities included worship, sermons, panel discussions, leadership and discipleship sessions, and a health sessi

More Joy in Giving: A Testimony from Ghana
Kala gave yams to Pastor George. When Director George Korah wanted to visit with one of the church leaders in Montigu, he found him in his field. Kala had been harvesting yams with the help of Pastor Isaac. Yams are a staple food among villagers that they pound into fufu . Kala was delighted to have Pastor George visit him, and they ate fufu together. Then, he gave from his yam crop to Pastor George, so much that he could hardly carry them on his motorcycle. “I am not a wealt

"Jesus Is Worth It All"--A Villager's Testimony
A Ghanaian villager recently came to Christ. He shared his testimony with Pastor George Korah. His name and picture will not be published due to security reasons. Praise the Lord, Church! I want to testify to the goodness of God in my life. I was born and raised in a Muslim family in the remote area of Wa, East District of the Upper West Region, Ghana. From childhood, I was taught to follow the traditions of Islam, and I was very devoted. I am 40 years old now. I never though

In January 2026, you are invited to travel with Dr. Jim and missionary Jere Gowin on a short-term mission trip to Ghana. Our ministry in Ghana is made up of seven village churches. Most of the believers are first generation Christians. Some were willing to be ridiculed or shunned by friends and family to follow Christ. These vibrant churches are led by Pastor George Korah. Growth in Ghana
Pastor George Korah interprets for Jere Gowin in 2024. After Ruth Ann’s and my departure from Ghana in 2013, two additional churches were added to the work. The present Church has since thrived under the leadership of Pastor George Korah. This year, a local board was formed to lead the ministry for the COGH. A goal of the leaders is to locate and purchase land in Wa to establish a headquarters for the Church in Ghana. This would include a training facility which can double a

The Gowins: Non-Residential Missionaries
Jere and Ruth Ann Gowin, former missionaries to both Cayman Brac and Ghana, have been accepted as World Missions' first non-residential missionaries. A non-residential missionary assists Kingdom growth in another country by giving 2-3 weeks at least 2 times a year to live overseas. Non-residential missionaries are similar to residential/career missionaries in the way that they work to learn the local culture and seek to train and mentor believers. They also raise funds for

Outreach in Ghana
What does ministry in Ghana look like? It can include an outreach service in the village of Ducie, outside with a tree for shade. It can look like taking an offering and delivering it to a needy family in Glang. It can even include Pastor George staying after a church service to counsel with a young couple in the church. He wrote that there had been misunderstandings for a while and that they were on the verge of divorce. However, God blessed this meeting, and it concluded wi

A Victory in Ghana
George Korah, National Director in Ghana, recently wrote that he shared Dr. Lo’s book, God’s Call to Holiness , with his friend. This is the textbook Dr. Lo taught from during his visit to Ghana earlier this year. Pastor George wrote: “A friend of mine recently gave his life to Jesus after going through the book God’s Call to Holiness by Rev. Jim Lo. “I gave the book to him. He said the book is self leading, spiritual, and contains all that it takes to know God and surrender
