Esther and Philip Urquiola, Stephen and Pamela On December 13, 2024, former missionary Philip Urquiola passed to his heavenly reward at the age of 96. Philip and his wife, Esther, served the churches in Bolivia from 1960-1978. Bro. Phil served faithfully and with courage in spite of persecution and danger to his life. He was bilingual in Spanish and English and also knew Quechua and Aymara. He taught believers and witnessed in new villages, persevering for the name of Christ.

Another servant of the Lord has been called home. Leland Trussell was promoted to heaven on May 25, 2023. Bro. Trussell served our churches in Bolivia with his wife and family from 1961-1973. Beverly Joann Parker served with her husband, Lyle, as missionaries in Bolivia from 1967-1984. She passed away on August 19, 2022. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Bolivia. They have been hit with a second wave of COVID-19, this time with a variant that also affects babies and young people. There are no vaccines and little can be done by way of treatment. The country of Bolivia has been hit hard by COVID-19, including our churches there. At last report, we have lost 10 pastors and two pastor’s wives; one of the pastors was Felix Romero Poma, who was also our National Board Secretary. Out of 205 churches, this means that almost 5% have seen this virus take one of their leaders. Please pray for our brothers and sisters who are fighting this illness and grieving those departed.

Please pray for our churches in Bolivia. More than 110 Evangelical pastors across the nation have died as a result of COVID-19, including at least 7 from our churches. Pastor Felix Romero, our National Board Secretary, passed away July 20. A lack of medical resources and care makes Bolivia susceptible to this devastating disease. Thank you for your prayers.

Please pray for Jaime Cano. He has served as our national president in Bolivia, on the national board, and as pastor of the Pampahasi church. After bringing assistance to families in need because of the COVID-19 crisis, he has apparently contracted it. At present, he is not responding to treatment. Thank you for your prayers.
