When Director George Korah wanted to visit with one of the church leaders in Montigu, he found him in his field. Kala had been harvesting yams with the help of Pastor Isaac. Yams are a staple food among villagers that they pound into fufu. Kala was delighted to have Pastor George visit him, and they ate fufu together. Then, he gave from his yam crop to Pastor George, so much that he could hardly carry them on his motorcycle.
“I am not a wealthy man,” Kala told Pastor George. “I cannot give you money, but the little I have, I share. I learned from church that there is more joy in giving than to receive. I have seen the power of prayer and giving transform hearts. Many who once mocked the church in the village now come because they witnessed the love of Christ shown through our small acts of giving and serving each other. I have done it not to be praised by you or men, but because the Bible said, ‘A generous soul will prosper, and whoever refreshes others will also be refreshed’ in the book of Proverbs. My prayer is that others, too, will come to know Christ, and church members support the ministry with all their might, and that Church of God Holiness will continue to be a light of faith, unity, growth, and compassion in the Chakali land.”
