Blessings in Cayman Brac

Cayman Brac is an island about 12 miles long, averaging about 1.2 miles wide. It is the second largest of the three Cayman Islands. Its central feature is the bluff that rises along the island, peaking at a height of 141 feet above sea level on its eastern end.

As the bluff has provided shelter and solid ground in the event of hurricanes in the past, so the two Church of God (Holiness) congregations there--Spot Bay and Watering Place--have pointed souls to Jesus, our Rock and Refuge in the storms of life.

Current pastors, Dr. Gayle and Micki Woods, have served faithfully since 2018. Their ministry has been a great blessing to the churches and to the island as a whole. However, the Woods' visitor visa can no longer be renewed after June of 2027.

To prepare for this inevitable change, Director Jim Lo and board members Rod Davis and Dwight Purtle visited the Brac for a week in August. Caribbean Conference Chairman, Philip Gumbs, met them on the island as well.

They enjoyed rich fellowship with the Woods and positive meetings with the church leaders, as well as the Lord's presence during special missions services.

Since Vacation Bible School was planned for the following week, before they left, the men had prayer with the leaders of this important ministry. They prayed that God would bless the outreach to children and teens on the island and make it one of the best ever.

The children attending VBS raise money each year for hungry children in Haiti. This year, they set a high goal--$3000 CI, almost twice their highest offering in the past. But when all was said and done, $5880 CI was raised, equaling about $7000 USD! We are thankful for this sign of God's special blessing on the 2026 VBS in Cayman Brac.
