The Revival We Need!

My eyes were glued. What I was watching was so powerful that I found myself attentively taking in every word that was being spoken. 

George Otis, Jr., the narrator for the video entitled “Transformations,” was saying, “True spiritual revival is like a seething lava flow. It takes time to reach its destination. But when it does, its intense heat and formidable power alter everything in its path. It is the full measure of God’s kingdom come to earth.” 

He then proceeded to tell his viewers about how God’s Holy Spirit is at work in societies all over the world which had been deemed beyond help. Otis shared about Kiambu, Kenya, a town which at one time had a horrendous reputation, but through the power of God had been transformed into a desirable neighborhood. Through prayer individuals surrendered their all, asking God to transform them to be holy people. Kiambu became a town where local bars were transformed into churches, where ancestral shrines were destroyed, and where entire family clans were coming to faith in Christ. 

After talking about Kiambu, Otis then spoke about what was happening in Hemet, California, where gang violence, meth labs, and corruption became things of the past. 

Lastly, he spoke about Almolonga, Guatemala, where poverty and alcoholism were being traded for deliverance in Jesus Christ. Where witchdoctors were renouncing their old practices and becoming believers in Christ.

In each of these places, God’s power was at work. Christians were surrendering their all, crying out to God to be saved and be made holy. The reality is this:   When the power of the Holy Spirit is unleashed, great things happen. The church needs to see great things happen! 

The church needs followers who are filled with Divine power that enables us to live victorious, holy lives, which includes having a passion to pray, go, and be witnesses to a spiritually lost, hurting, and dying world. 

• Our unsaved family members and friends need to hear the wondrous message that Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord.  

• Our local communities need to hear this!

• Our world needs to hear this!

As we enter into a new year, let us ask to be filled with God’s power in order for us to be His effective witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and “the uttermost parts of the world” (Acts 1:8). Time is running out!
