Marilyn Ministers in Jail

ree

The Myanmar military that took over the country by coup in 2021 enacted a conscription law in February of last year. This requires all young men and women to serve in the military for two years. Most, however, do not want to do this and may be arrested at any time.

The military came to the new building being constructed for Shiloh Bible College, where they arrested six of the construction workers and forced them into the military. They then turned to the owner of the building, Andrew Bawi Ceu’s wife, Marilyn. They accused her of violating martial law and sentenced her to one month in jail.

Marilyn turned this difficult time into a new season of ministry. In a prison of 800 women, most of whom are Buddhists and only 24 of whom are Christian, she conducted worship services on Sundays and actively witnessed to those around her. God granted her favor in the eyes of the prison leader and protected her from insect bites.

Marilyn was released in September, but prays for those Christians in the jail who need a leader, as well as Bibles and song books. She also prays for the many non-Christians including seven in particular who seemed softened to the gospel.
