Partnership in Prayer

Prayer is the greatest resource among Christians. It has a way of preparing the way of the Lord. It is not the only thing Christians should be doing, but it may be the most important thing we can be doing.

The Gospel of Luke tells us that there was a prophetess by the name of Anna. When we are introduced to her she is already very old, a widow. We are told that she never left the temple but worshiped there night and day, fasting and praying.

As I examine the prayer life of the prophetess Anna I observe the following: Anna understood about the privilege of prayer, the priority of prayer, and the power of prayer. She also understood about the partnership of prayer. This is an area that I believe is not fully understood by many Christians—the partnership that we can have with God. God, in His wisdom has chosen to accomplish His will on this planet through the prayers of His people.

Our world is in need of a great spiritual awakening. Many people have largely ignored God. Sin, violence, and crime continue to whittle away the potential of our civilization. Some in the COGH are asking, “When will God send new reformation, spiritual awakening, a dynamic movement of the Holy Spirit?” According to the Bible, it will happen when we take seriously our invitation to partner with God. Christians, we can touch this world for Jesus Christ through our prayers!
