The first part of this year has been good for our family. Christy and Jacob’s return at the end of January was great, and at the school break we were able to get away and relax for a few days on the coast. The boys have all done well so far in school, and are busy with learning and activities. Christy has joined right back in with her jobs at the Clinic and in Staff Care, and enjoys helping people.
Larry has had some time to work on planning and preparation for the rest of the year, since the literacy course planned for February, then delayed until March/April, was finally cancelled. At this point he is well prepared for a dialect survey later this year, as well as the final lessons of Translators’ Training Course 1 and launching the 11 new Solos translators into the work of drafting Scripture in Solos! And we have some real possibilities for holding the literacy course next year for teachers that might be even more impactful than what we had planned for this year.
Pray for good communication and planning, and that progress would be made. There are a number of challenges with the cell phone system, political events (elections, Bougainville independence), and logistics that the team has to work around, so we really need God’s help.
