The First Ministry

Children and family are a gift from God. Even in the world of missions, ministering to our own family is the primary mission God has called us to.

While we almost always feature our boys on the Back Page, we would like to focus on them in this newsletter. Living as a missionary kid (MK) has significant challenges—most of life, friendships, and even school happens in a foreign homeland, with the odd furlough thrown in every few years, mostly spent around strangers in a supposed ‘home’ country that has an unfamiliar culture. Then at age 18, these MKs are forced by immigration laws to move back to the country of their parents and have to quickly learn how to live and spiritually thrive in that unfamiliar setting.

As our boys (11, 13, & 16) are nearing life milestones and a furlough next year, these are things that we talk about from time to time. As you pray for us and Bible translation in PNG, please remember to pray for these young men, specifically that they would thrive and develop into the type of men God would have them to be.
