Work Behind the Scenes

Missionary Larry Doyle oversees the Solos Bible translation effort in Buka Island, part of the Bougainville Autonomous Region in Papua New Guinea. Most of his work is long-distance from his home in Ukarumpa.

Computer work in a rented office may not seem glamorous, but these behind-the-scenes efforts are vital to the longevity of the Solos translation project. For example, in November, Larry completed the Solos Dialect Survey.

This will help with spelling and many other elements of the translation. Larry is hoping that, this spring, the Solos teams will have drafts of enough chapters of the Bible to be ready for Advisor Checking. (See step 4 below.)
