Adjustments

"Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 2:5, ESV)
What was Jesus thinking as he prepared to leave the splendor of Heaven to become flesh? How aware was Jesus at a young age that he was God, that he had left the glory of heaven, and while now human was the Creator and King of the Universe?
The verses following Philippians 2:5 give us a glimpse into the great cultural changes that Jesus, the Greatest Missionary, had to make as he left heaven and made earth his home. Truly, he must have felt some culture shock!
The one word we would use to sum up the two months we have been in Cayman Brac is "adjustment." We are learning to enjoy summer during the winter (Yeah!), intermittent Internet service (Grrr), occasional power outages (Ugh!), surviving when the water runs low (Argh!), and fresh food shortages when high tides keep the barge away (Help!).
More importantly, we are adjusting to pastoring two churches at the same time, worshipping island-style, learning new names and faces, enrolling Joseph and Noah in a new school, and ministering to a wonderful people with great potential and great need.
We have been humbled at the outpouring of love and gratitude from the people of the Spot Bay and Watering Place congregations. We feel blessed by God for his presence and empowerment. We have been enriched by cards and gifts sent by faithful supporters. We covet your continued prayers!
