What Is a Non-residential Missionary?
A reality of global missions is this: it is getting harder and harder for individuals to obtain residential visas to stay for long periods of time in many countries. Because of this increasing challenge, mission agencies are listing a new category of missionary service. It is called the “non-residential missionary.” David Garrison, in his book, The Nonresidential Missionary (Innovations in Mission) , put it this way: “ The nonresidential missionary is a career foreign mission

Please Join Us in Prayer
A few Church of God (Holiness) leaders have committed themselves to fast and pray a meal every Wednesday. We are praying for the needs of churches in the States and the world. For COGH World Missions we are praying for the following: For individuals to respond to God’s call to global missions; For God to show COGH World Missions new fields we need to be entering; For churches to have a greater zeal for reaching the world for Christ; and For Christians living and ministering i

No Regrets
On May 17, 2008, Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman’s son struck his five-year-old adopted sister, Maria, as he was backing the family SUV out of the driveway. Due to her injuries, Maria died four days later. Chapman was devastated and felt he would never be able to sing again. One reason was that he was no longer sure he really believed the words he was singing. After a time, however, Chapman sensed he was to begin singing again. He began to sing the song Matt Redman w

Called to Be Bridge Builders
I became a Christian because I wanted to end up in heaven and not in hell when my life came to an end. On the day I made the decision to be a Christian, my heart was filled with great joy. I thought, “I now have my ticket to eternal life.” The problem was that the faith I possessed was very “Jim Lo focused.” It was about me. To be transparent, my main concern was that I would be ready for heaven. I really was not too concerned about the spiritual welfare of others. However,

A Call to Prayer
Dear COGH Follower of Christ, At General Camp this year, the theme was focused on the question, “What is the church?” One truth that was shared over and over was this: “The church is a gathering of believers who are called by God to reach their communities, country, and world.” On Thursday mornings the World Missions Board knows that I take extended time to focus on praying and connecting with God. The hours spent in His presence have been so precious to me. Part of my time w

God is using Dr. Jim’s book, God’s Call to Holiness , in nine countries in Africa, where over 20,000 people have studied it. One 19-year-old young lady testified, “When I attended the holiness training out of curiosity, the book pierced my heart. For the first time, I read about a God who is not distant but desires relationship. That night, I whispered, 'Jesus, if You are real, come and live in me.' And He did."

An Echo of Eternity
Over Mother’s Day weekend, Dr. Jim Lo spoke at the Church of God (Holiness) in Brooklyn, New York, a Haitian congregation. He later wrote, “As I participated in worship I thought of the words found in Revelation 7:9, ‘... I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.’ “In the last two months I have been in services where worship was done in Spanish, Fr
