A cruise ship passenger from Italy being treated for heart problems turned out to be the Cayman Islands’ first coronavirus patient. The government set restrictions into place quickly. The last church services held in the buildings in Cayman Brac were held on March 15. Since then, Dr. Woods has been broadcasting services by Facebook Live. A young lady named Tina had been attending the Spot Bay church for a few months. She contacted the Woods and told them that, during the Su

New Converts in Cayman Brac
Dr. Gayle Woods recently wrote about a guest who attended Sunday morning service in January. Afterwards, the lady who brought him to church mentioned he had been baptized. Dr. Woods said baptism was wonderful and he was glad, but asked the man if he had ever asked God to forgive his sins. He had not, but wanted to. Those still present gathered to pray, and soon a new name was written down in glory. The man now attends a weekly Bible study with Dr. Woods to learn the basic

Highlights from 2019
"Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men." Philippians 2:5–7 (ESV) It is Christmas time again, and we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Yet we are also challenged by the apostle's words to adopt the same mindset and behavior of Jesus in giving up Hi

Loss in Cayman Brac
The month of August began with deep sorrow. Wednesday night, July 31, Jude Walton of the Spot Bay church went home to the Lord. Jude had a kidney transplant 20 years ago which was failing. He was waiting word to see if his wife, Laura, would be an acceptable donor. He was on dialysis but seemed to be coping pretty well. I had Bible studies every week with Jude and Laura. Jude was also an active member of my Friday night men’s Bible study. He had a vibrant testimony an

A Birthday Dinner and VBS Prep
June 10th was the Queen’s birthday. Actually, it wasn’t—her birthday was April 21st. But in the Cayman Islands we have a national holiday on the second Monday of June to celebrate her birthday. We thought we ought to do something special for the Queen; so we had an indoor picnic at the Seaman’s Center. (It was too hot outside. Besides that, who likes getting bit by mosquitoes?) Close to fifty people came, and we had a wonderful time of eating and visiting. One thing that mad

New Believers in Grand Cayman
We were thrilled to hear the news of souls being saved as a result of David and Zenia Woods’ ministry at the Red Bay church in Grand Cayman. Within two weeks in March, five people became followers of Jesus! The last two were a husband and wife who wanted their family to serve the Lord. The next Sunday morning, a special dedication was a part of the service, and it was followed by a baptism service at the sea. When God moves, the enemy fights. Thank you for your continued p

Longing for a Downpour
Sunday night, January 20, as I was preaching, I heard a large clap of thunder. Then I heard what I thought was a downpour of rain hitting the roof of the church. No one else seemed to notice, and so I immediately dismissed it as I continued to preach. After the service as people were leaving the church, I noticed that they were congregating in the lobby. This was rather unusual. I looked out to see what was taking place and realized that they had been stopped because of

A Season of Joy
Dr. Gayle Woods and Micki attended several local Christmas events in Cayman Brac, including the primary school’s program, the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, and Captain’s Retreat Christmas Lighting at the historic Spellman McLaughlin home. Christmas lights at the Spellman McLaughlin home, one of three structures that survived the hurricane of 1932. Dr. and Mrs. Woods’ influence on the island is important. As he wrote, the island is not just a community. It IS community. H

Thanks!
December 1st, 2018, marks four years since our family first stepped foot in the Cayman Islands as missionary pastors! Thank you so much for the incredible support you have given us these past several years! 2018 has been a year of changes for our family. In January we were called by Red Bay Church of God (Holiness), in conjunction with World Missions, to be their new pastor, beginning on April 1st, Easter Sunday. Our hearts were saddened at the prospect of leaving the peop
