Answers to Prayer and Return to PNG
In December, two hurdles loomed large, keeping the Doyles from being able to return to their work with Bible translation in Papua New Guinea. One was a need for about $1500 more in monthly pledges of ministry support, and the other was the cancellation of the only flight into PNG as of January. But neither of these needs was too big for God! In January, the final pledges of support came in, some from churches, others from individuals wanting to increase their monthly support,

Progress, Planning, and God's Provision
Our last newsletter was a while ago, but we’ve been busy in August, September, and now October. We have been visiting churches and connecting with people here in the middle of the USA, and also in Idaho, Washington, California, and parts in between. Some of you we’ve had to miss due to COVID-19 or simply scheduling issues, but we treasure each chance to meet with people and talk about what God is doing. One of our aims in these meetings is to encourage all of us together as t

Back in Action (But Cautiously)
Summer has been a return to our normal furlough schedule of travelling, visiting churches, and connecting with people. We’re so grateful for the opportunities we’ve had to share about Bible Translation in Papua New Guinea, as well as catching up with friends and acquaintances in various places. If you or your church want to see us in August or on into the Autumn months, get in touch with us or the COGH World Missions office . These are crazy times, but it is very comforting

Pandemic Response
We just arrived home from our big Western Trip. We took off before any states had shut down in March, and over the next month watched things get cancelled and paused. We had hoped to visit at least six churches and many, many friends and partners. That obviously didn’t happen. We were able to meet up with a couple of friends (you know who you are) and see and stay with family who we hadn’t seen in a long time (thanks for taking us in longer than planned!). But in many ways,

Ministry in These Challenging Times
When the year 2020 began, none of us suspected the careening detour it would take. Quarantines, curfews, social distancing. Who would have thought these kinds of words would become part of our everyday language? Yet, even as we find our schedules cleared from many normal activities, our hearts may be flooded with increasingly anxious thoughts. We would do well to remember Jesus’ words: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16

Money Matters
Where does the money go? This is a question that we all ask, and it’s very relevant in our situation with our monthly budget, and we want to be transparent. The biggest chunk goes toward our ministry and living expenses (including taxes). Another large chunk goes toward health insurance that works anywhere in the world. Thankfully we haven’t needed to use it in PNG/Australia recently, but it has been a blessing in the past and here on furlough. We also contribute to a retire

Thankful
We are so thankful for God’s great gift of salvation and His calling on all of us to serve in His kingdom. We are especially blessed that this calling takes us to another part of the world to do a specialized job. We are also thankful to all of you who have stood by us and behind us on this journey—some for many years now, and a few from just weeks ago as we’ve had a chance to meet and share about the Kingdom work we are involved in. Wycliffe and World Missions both require

Plan B (or C, D, or E...)
The English alphabet may not be enough to label our fluid plans. In the last newsletter from PNG we thought we had a pretty good furlough plan laid out. Some of those things have worked well (travel to the USA, vehicle, Missions Retreat, visiting people and churches) but others have not. The boys at our local airstrip in PNG The house that we partially own in Kansas City is not habitable, so we’re based out of Northeast Oklahoma for the time being. In many ways this is a b

Back in the U. S.
The Doyle family returned to the United States the end of July, only to discover the housing they had planned for the first few weeks in the Kansas City area did not materialize due to the previous renter. After attending the Missionary Retreat , they moved to live near Christy’s parents in Eucha, Oklahoma. From there, they have already traveled to two churches and a camp to tell about their work. The month of October is scheduled with additional services, an SIL (Linguisti

Going Home?
Furlough (home assignment) is an interesting time for missionaries. Every time we think about it, we realize more and more that our true home is a place we have never been—heaven. As we transition from this ‘home’ to the ‘old home’ where our families and friends live (or at least used to), we are faced with mixed emotions. For us adults, it’s not quite the same place we remember from previous years. People, culture, and even places have shifted over the past four years. Some
