Children enjoying Vacation Bible School

It's summer and it's HOT in Cayman Brac! But not only is the weather hot, but the action in our church has been non-stop! Let us tell you about the exciting things that have been happening the past couple months…

Missions Team

From June 24-30 we were privileged to host a short-term missions team from HHYC Compass Ministries. Arriving Friday afternoon, the team joined us a couple hours later for the beginning of our Youth Emphasis Weekend, a night of fun and games" at the high school basketball court.

The next evening, Bro. Elroy and daughter Shiona sang in a Night of Worship. On Sunday morning, Radio Cayman broadcasted our joint worship service at Watering Place. In the joint service at Spot Bay that evening, the missions team sang and shared testimonies. On Monday, we took a little ministry break … and hiked the Lighthouse Path, a 2 1/2 mile walk! On both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, the team battled the heat while painting, first at Spot Bay and then at Watering Place, joining the churches in the evening midweek services.

Vacation Bible School

It seemed as if the Woods family barely said goodbye to the missions team before Vacation Bible School arrived, held July 18-22. We traveled to Egypt and journeyed with Joseph from the prison to the palace. About 30 volunteers ministered to 60 kids Monday through Friday night. On Sunday, July 24, we had a final VBS celebration with a joint service at Watering Place.

Baptism

Over the past couple months, several persons had indicated interest in being baptized. On July 31, the churches again joined for a joint morning service at Spot Bay, after which the people gathered at the high school swimming pool where Pastor Woods baptized four persons: Rosalyn Compass, Adura (Pat) Miller, Jake Salazar, and Tricia Tablada.

Truly, this summer has been filled with much excitement, stress, and joy. Please continue to pray for the Church of God (Holiness) in Cayman Brac and the Woods family!
